What does a mortal, who is new to the band, need to know about Still Remains?
Mike: We are from Grand Rapids, Michigan. We've been around for a little over four years and...we love Metal
Do you shave your pubic hair, or do you leave it natural?
Mike; Whoa (Laughs). That's a very good...um...I'm ah....all the way trimmed.
I knew it! You look like a trimmed mortal (everyone laughs)
Mike: If you gotta know, it's all off.
You shall tell me why you would so such a thing?
Mike: I feel cleaner man. On the road, it's hard to stay clean, so it's just one less thing to worry about.
Don't your break out from the shaving?
Mike No...no.
What do you use to eliminate your hair? Mortal shaving gel?
Mike: Man...this is deep (laughs)...um...I put some hot wax on there, I put some duct tape on there and rip it right off!
A most intriguing, mortal habit you have there. Do you, Zach, shave your pubic hair?
Zach: (Laughs) Every so often.
Do you have a hairy buttocks?
Zach: No..no, I wouldn't say it's smooth, but I've seen some hairy buttocks and I don't compare. A.J. is the one with the hairy buttocks (Laughs)
(turns to A.J.) Ah ha!...so...you have a hairy buttocks?
A.J. Yeah
Did you want to show it to me?
A.J. No.
You are being stingy with your buttocks! (everybody laughs)
A.J. It's not pretty
You shall show me at once!
A.J. Do you really want to see it?
Yes!
(turns around and moons me and the band - everybody laughs)
That is a superior, hairy buttocks!
A.J. Thank you (everybody laughs)
What video is out right now?
Mike: "The Worst is Yet To Come." We did it back in March. It's been out for awhile.
Zach: It's amazing. We did it out in north of LA They found this burnt out building. We don't know what it was, but it was amazing. It's in the back and we're rockin' out on top of gravel.
Tell me about Garth Richardson?
Mike: Garth is amazing. He lives Vancouver, Canada, which is one of the most beautiful places on Earth and where we recorded with him. He's a great producer. He's produced bands like Rage Against The Machine's first album. He's done Mudvayne, Kitty...he's just an amazing guy to work with. He does really great things with vocalists.
What did he pull out of you, that you didn't realize was within you?
Zach: I think he really pulled the singing parts out of our music. We always try to have a lot of melody. He really pulled a new level out of the singing parts in the music.
You are a keyboardist. The very doomed, Between The Buried and Me also utilize such in their band. Are their any similarities between you and them?
Zach: Kind of. I use synthesizers and a lot of the same kinds of sounds that I've heard from their band - especially from their new CD, I use as well. I use a lot of 80's, New Wave kind of synthesizers..
If New Wave became the next, big thing, would Still Remains head in that direction?
Zach: If it was up to me, yes (Laughs). I'm not too much of a Metalhead, although I do love my fair share, so we would keep it heavy but...no, to be honest, we'd continue doing what we do.
If Still Remains were to become Flock of Seagulls, who would have the hair do?
Zach: Me (laughs). |
